For some years I work Trichology and hair restoration, my main goal is to give patients a result that is as natural as possible and also, last but not least, with a minimal discomfort in the post-intervention.
In search of perfection in these years, I have compared to the best surgeons in the world which deal with baldness, and they participated in major industry conferences.
With my team I made several interventions using traditional methods, the FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant), which, as it is well known, involves surgical removal of a diamond from the occipital scalp, cutting it into small portions containing from 1 to 3 follicles and replanting them in the area to thicken.
As the results were excellent and the aesthetic point of view (you can easily transplanted up to 2000 Follicular unit in a session), patients' request for a less invasive method especially in those cases that don’t need mega-sessions and for which the scar is related to the method as FUT "excessive" compared with the results although undeniable, it has made me been closer to the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction).
This method, founded in late 1990, using micro-punch (0.8 - 1.4 mm) manuals, allows the extraction of follicular units that give the area replanted as those, receiving a natural result similar to those obtained with the traditional method.
From the perspective of my patients, understanding the result, the substantial difference between the FUT and FUE is surely the absence in the latter, the scars visible then determine a post-intervention "it is not disabling" nevertheless the long time required for removal of the follicular units with manual punch my plan has always limited to this method, except in cases calling for a mini session, preferring the classic FUT also spoke for only grafts 800-1000.
Obviously and fortunately, technology is changing and the collaboration of the "minds" with those medical company has permission to "automate" the FUE making faster (the time needed for removal) - and keeping its main feature is not invasive (no visible scars and post-op not uncomfortable) - with equipment made (after years of experimentation and refinement) in the last World Congress of Surgery of baldness.
The same equipment also allows even the automation of the plant wich was that, through a handful built for the occurrence, they are "fired" directly at the site of implantation.
This device, called the Punch Hair Matic, intrigued me, and my curiosity led me to approach and use.
The proposed technology, called the automation of hair transplantation as Automated Trans-RES (extraction and automatic installation of follicular units) just to distinguish the application of traditional FUE than the latter provide the apparatus Punch Hair Matic.
Initially to make it known and appreciated was Dr. Ives Crassas Lyon, recognized expert in this technique, which started me and my staff to the method allowing us to propose and carry on our patients with an extremely positive.
After one period of months, we could appreciate the real "speeding" time of explants (follicular units are automatically collected into a container and are ready for the implantation), the ability to choose the diameter of punch (0.8 to 1.4 mm) allows us to use then you can grub single follicular units and multi-bulbar depending on the area to thicken, while the precision of follicular units in the explants assures us to obtain a large number of hair replant, the minimum of trauma was himself gives us a very high percentage of "rooting".
Finally, a personal but not least, I must admit that I met in the facility to learn how to use a machine, as they have always been accustomed to using only their hands. In conclusion, this innovative technology has completely changed the way we operate but it allows us to offer, freely and without limits, to all patients, by choice or necessity, fast and safe alternative to maintaining excellent standards of quality and quantity, and always natural results.
